Rhinoplasty Simulation

One of the most common anxieties before rhinoplasty is uncertainty, not about the surgery itself, but about what your nose might look like afterwards. At Adnova Clinic in Fareham, I offer morphing of imaging as part of the rhinoplasty consultation process, giving you the ability to visualise potential changes to your nose before any decision is made. Please ask me for further details during the consultation.

I am the only surgeon on the south coast offering simulation technology for rhinoplasty planning.

What Is Rhinoplasty Morphing?

Rhinoplasty morphing is the process of editing clinical photographs to demonstrate the type of changes that may be possible with rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty. It is used during the consultation process to help patients understand potential changes to the bridge, tip, projection, width, profile and overall balance of the nose.

The morph is created from your own photographs and is used as a visual communication tool between you and your surgeon. It can help clarify what you would like to change, what Mr Biggs feels is realistic, and where surgical limitations may apply.

This is not a filter, cosmetic retouching, or a guaranteed preview of the final result. The edited image is interpreted in the context of your nasal anatomy, skin thickness, cartilage strength, facial proportions, breathing function and surgical goals.

What Rhinoplasty Morphing Does

• Uses your own clinical photographs to illustrate possible surgical changes
• Helps demonstrate potential changes to the nasal bridge, tip, projection, width and symmetry
• Supports discussion about what looks natural and proportionate for your face
• Helps align patient goals with what may be surgically achievable
• Allows the surgeon and patient to discuss expectations before committing to surgery
• Provides a visual reference for the direction of change being considered

What Rhinoplasty Morphing Cannot Do

It is important to be clear about the limitations of any image morphing tool. A rhinoplasty morph represents one possible direction of change, not a guaranteed surgical outcome.

Important: rhinoplasty morphing is a consultation aid, not a contractual promise. Human tissue does not behave with the precision of digital image editing. Skin thickness, cartilage memory, healing, swelling and tissue response all influence the final result in ways that cannot be fully predicted or replicated on a photograph.

Mr Biggs will use the morph to discuss what is realistically achievable for your anatomy. It is not an image you are asked to “sign off” as a guaranteed final result.

• The morph reflects surgical intent and direction, not an exact outcome
• Skin type and thickness significantly affect how structural changes appear externally
• The final result continues to evolve for up to 12 months or longer as swelling resolves and tissues settle
• Complex or revision cases involve greater surgical uncertainty than primary rhinoplasty
• The morph cannot account for intraoperative findings that may require modification of the surgical plan
• A natural, functional and safe result is more important than attempting to exactly reproduce an edited image

Frequently Asked Questions

Does rhinoplasty morphing guarantee my result?

No. Rhinoplasty morphing illustrates one possible direction of change and is used to guide discussion, support surgical planning and align expectations. It is not a guarantee of outcome. Final results are influenced by your individual anatomy, skin thickness, cartilage strength, tissue behaviour, healing and any findings during surgery. Mr Biggs will discuss what is and is not achievable for your nose specifically.

Do I need to edit the photographs myself?

No. Mr Biggs edits the photographs himself, taking into account what is surgically achievable as well as your wishes for your ideal outcome. The purpose is to create a realistic visual guide for discussion, not an exaggerated or unrealistic image.

What photographs do I need?

High-quality clinical photographs are taken at your first consultation. These commonly include a straight-on frontal view, three-quarter views and side profile views. Good lighting, a neutral background and a relaxed facial expression help produce the most useful images for morphing and surgical planning.

Is my data secure?

Yes. Your clinical photographs are handled as part of your confidential medical record and are stored securely in line with clinic data protection procedures. They are used only for consultation, planning and clinical documentation unless you give separate consent for any other use.

Can the morph be adjusted during my consultation?

Yes. The morph can be discussed and adjusted as part of the consultation process, depending on what is realistic for your anatomy and surgical goals. This allows you and Mr Biggs to explore preferences around bridge shape, tip refinement, projection, width, symmetry and overall facial balance.

Is rhinoplasty morphing available for functional surgery or sinus procedures?

Rhinoplasty morphing is mainly used for cosmetic rhinoplasty and septorhinoplasty planning at Adnova Clinic. It is not usually required for sinus surgery or purely functional nasal procedures, where planning is based more on symptoms, examination findings, nasal endoscopy and, where appropriate, imaging such as CT scans.

What if I want to go ahead with surgery after seeing the morph?

If you wish to proceed following your consultation, the next steps, including consent, pre-operative assessment and scheduling, will be discussed with you by Mr Biggs’s clinical team. There is no pressure to commit at the consultation appointment.

Do I have to pay for rhinoplasty morphing?

No. Rhinoplasty morphing is included in the consultation fee of £200.
